Dr. Troy Tarpley is an assistant instructional professor of agricultural communication in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication (AEC) at the University of Florida.

Dr. Tarpley holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Communications from Texas Tech University (2012), a Master’s of Science in Animal Science from Angelo State University (2014), and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Communications and Education from Texas Tech University (2017).

Dr. Tarpley’s recent research projects focus on several key areas within agricultural media and communication. His work primarily explores:

  1. Student Recruitment and Retention: Dr. Tarpley investigates strategies to enhance student engagement and retention in agricultural education programs. This includes examining factors that influence students’ decisions to pursue and persist in agricultural studies.
  2. Transparency in the Animal Agricultural Industry: Another significant area of his research is understanding how transparency in the animal agricultural industry affects consumer perceptions. This involves studying how information disclosure about animal farming practices impacts public trust and consumer behavior.

These projects aim to address critical issues in agricultural education and communication, contributing to the development of more effective educational strategies and improving public understanding of agricultural practices.
