The Project
Led by Dr. Sebastian Galindo, Research Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication (AEC), and Dr. Kay Kelsey, Professor, Evaluation Specialist, & Project Leader at Global Food Systems Institute & Crop Transformation Center
at the University of Florida, the Strategic Collaborative for Engagement and Evaluation (SCENE) is a hub of innovation that brings together faculty, staff, and students from multiple departments and colleges across the University of Florida to collaborate with other researchers in the preparation, submission, implementation, and evaluation of grants-funded proposals and projects as well as develop the capacity of UF faculty and organizations to advance the scholarship and practice of engagement and evaluation.
Mission
Establish an interconnected and active community of skilled faculty, staff, and students to improve engagement and evaluation in research, teaching, and extension initiatives to maximize their value and impact in the broader community.
Vision
Enhancing the institutional capacity of the University of Florida by transforming existing and new collaborations into valuable resources and opportunities to address social change and impact through engagement and evaluation. The concerted efforts of this interdisciplinary network will support a culture of project collaboration and promote the best practices in team science.
Goals
- Create an enabling environment in which collaboration and creativity flourish
- Increase success in securing funding for innovative projects developed by UF faculty
- Improve human and organizational capacity for evaluation and engagement in team science
- Enhance the University of Florida’s visibility and prestige in evaluation and engagement
- Form an accessible and functional axis connecting reliable professionals and strengthening the educational and collaborative capabilities of UF scholars, practitioners, and students alike
