Getting Started with e-Learning

Welcome to the Orientation session for the AEC e-Learning Master of Science program. Below you will find a series of links to various tutorials and informational websites to help you as you begin this journey.  Please visit the links and follow instructions in the sequence they are presented.

1. Gatorlink Account

All registered UF students need to have a Gatorlink User ID and password to access online UF services. Please keep in mind that your Gatorlink User ID will serve as your email address as well.

To obtain an account, go to the Gatorlink homepage and click the Create a new account link.

Once you have gotten your Gatorlink account, email Hope Kelly so she can add you to the class roster in e-Learning.

Your Gatorlink ID gives you access to a number of online services, including your UF email account. Be sure to review these through the Services link or click here: Gatorlink Services.

 2. Distance Learning Gator 1 Card

This is not a required item, but a Distance Learning Gator 1 Card may be useful to you in managing access and serving as a student identification card with your University of Florida ID number.

3. Visit ISIS

ISIS is UF’s secure Integrated Student Information System. Take a look under “My Record,” where you will find your final grades and other academic records.  Look under “Financial Services” to pay fees, monitor accounts, and to obtain tax forms. You will need to clear registartion holds through ISIS every semester in order to enroll in courses.

4. Registering & Paying for Courses

Course registration will be completed by the department for EEP eligible students. Others may register themselves or work with the e-Learning Corrdinator for course registration.

For UF staff, please visit the EEP page for current information on using your benefit to pay for classes.

All other students will be directed via email to a secure website to make payment after registration deadlines have passed.

5. UF Library Resources

The UF Libraries have many resources online, with Distance Services specifically set up for off-campus faculty, staff and students. Click on “First Time Steps for Getting Started,” then “Create an Interlibrary Loan Account.”  Here you will find instructions for creating an ILLiad account so that you may get print materials from the library.

In addition to the above page, which is specifically geared towards distance students, also take time to set up a VPN so you will be able to access the libraries’ digital collections and databases.

6. e-Learning

The e-Learning site is UF’s online course management system, where the learning materials for the courses you will be taking are located.  On the left side of the page select “E-Learning Login.”  You will be re-directed to a log-in page.  Log-in using your Gatorlink username and password. 

The course titled AEC Online Orientation will guide you through an Orientation Presentation, quiz, and practice with using the tools in the e-Learning system.
